Ribbon board displays are made using the same LED technology found in the HD video screens in sports venues and outdoor billboards, typically combining one red, one green, and one blue LED per pixel. These systems display live video and animation the same way a home television can. The difference is the shape of the canvas.
A typical ribbon board may be only 32 to 96 pixels tall, but tens of thousands of pixels wide. That aspect ratio breaks most off-the-shelf animation templates, which is why ribbon board content needs to be designed for the actual hardware from the first frame, not cropped down from a 16:9 video.
“Ribbon board” and “fascia” refer to the same display technology: the long, narrow LED band that wraps the front of a seating deck. Sports and entertainment teams tend to say “ribbon board,” while venue architects, integrators, and some LED manufacturers use “fascia display” or “fascia LED.” Whichever term your venue uses, it's the same challenging aspect ratio and the same service.

It depends entirely on your venue's hardware. Ribbon boards range from a few hundred pixels wide to well over 10,000, at heights as low as 32 pixels. We start every project by confirming your board's exact pixel dimensions before any animation work begins.
Yes. Sponsor integration is one of the most common ribbon board requests: rotating sponsor logos, live promotional messaging, and branded transitions designed to match the rest of the animation, not just pasted on top of it.
No, Arenamation is a content studio, not a hardware vendor. We design and produce the animation that runs on your existing (or soon-to-be-installed) ribbon board, which means the content is built for your venue instead of bundled in from a manufacturer's stock library.
